The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The title about sums me recent experiences. Let us start with the good. In a work related matter I found out that I have been promoted. It took a long time for the announcement and I am very happy to have it over with. Now for the bad and the ugly. I had a flight lesson with a different instructor. It was supposed to be in preparation for my checkride and I was hoping that everything would be super smooth and he would tell me that I was ready for the checkride. That didn't happen. We got up and after a short transit out from Tipton we got right to work. I know from experience that the less an instructor speaks to you while you're doing something, the better. We did some instrument work. That went well and I learned a lot in a few short minutes about airplane control. Once we went on to steep turns things went OK. While I am by no means a master at steep turns, I think they would be acceptable on the checkride. My instructor had my try some new things that helped out with airplane control. When it came time to do "turns around a point," things didn't go so well. I found out I have a lot to practice. After that we went back to the airport and I had the worst approach setup in a long time. The only good thing about it was that I decided to go around. It was an ugly end to an otherwise good flight.
