Well boys and girls, it's not looking good for the kid. My application for my Medical Certificate is still with the FAA and the word from the AOPA is that it's going to be denied. I don't have any serious medical conditions, however, it appears that the FAA is ULTRA-CONSERVATIVE about issuing a medical certificate and any little problem will hold you up. I do believe that I can "save" myself. What it will take is a check of my blood sugar, a positive report from my Maintenance of Wakefulness Test, and documentation stating that I am not taking any prescription medications.
The problem is that I was almost ready to solo. You can't solo without your medical certification. It's already taken over a month and I haven't even gotten the denial letter yet. It will take another month to get them the documentation that they need. It make take two or more months for them to provide me with a reply. That puts all of my training on hold for probably at least two months. The FAA has broken my spirit! Let us hope that the flying gods and the FAA will take pity on my lowly state.
There will be nothing to post for a while as I am effectively grounded.
I will probably be giving a blow by blow account of my fight to get certified.
